Kristin Yancy is a Dallas, TX native and a graduate from Washington University in St. Louis, where she graduated with Senior Honors, receiving a B.A. in Comparative Arts, Writing, and Communication Design. During her time in St. Louis, Kristin was a principal member of The Slaughter Project, under the artistic direction of Cecil Slaughter. Following graduation Kristin studied at Joffrey Ballet School (NY), San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Movement Invention Project (NY), and Northwest Dance Project (OR). During that time she was honored to work with notables such as Sidra Bell, Ephrat Asherie, Theresa Howard, Danielle Agami, Summer Rhatigan, and Alex Ketley.
Kristin has performed with OUI DANSE under the artistic direction of Brice Mousset, as well as with New York based choreographer Khalea London and her company, LAYERS. She has appeared in commercials for Organic Valley, CHASE Bank, Ford Motor Company, VH1+, VERIA TV, and Target, as a part of their New York Fashion Week Production. Kristin was a featured dancer in Abzyme Research Foundation’s #ENDHIV Campaign, which was choreographed by the extraordinary Ryan Heffington and narrated by Julianne Moore. Kristin has traveled North America as a member of the national touring cast of West Side Story, performed with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and had the pleasure of serving as dance captain for the Helen Hayes nominated production of Evita, choreographed by Christopher D’Amboise. Kristin performed nightly as a member of the Drama Desk winning cast of Off-Broadway sensation Queen of the Night. She is currently based in New York, where she dances with The People Movers, makes strange magic with LubDub Physical Theatre Company, builds worlds with MinuteZero, and produces her own choreographic work.
